Role Overview
The Regional IoT Technical Lead serves as the primary technical liaison for
IoT-based Smart Building Solutions within a defined region. This role
ensures system reliability, compliance, and performance while aligning with
approved global standards. The position works under the strategic guidance
of the Global Building Technology Services – Global Management Team and partners closely with the Regional IoT Manager to deliver seamless technical operations and governance. The Technical Lead also provides constructive feedback when deviations from standards occur, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Liaison; Leadership
Act as the regional technical point of contact, bridging global standards with local execution.
Partner with the Regional IoT Manager to ensure operational excellence and alignment with business objectives.
Provide expert-level diagnostics for Azure IoT Hub, IoT Edge, telemetry platforms, and integrated applications.
Onsite Investigations
Conduct onsite assessments of IoT-based solutions for:
Information gathering to support planning and documentation.
Troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Site planning for new deployments or upgrades.
Governance Standards
Ensure all technical operations comply with approved global standards and Microsoft best practices.
Collaborate with the Global Management Team to address deviations constructively, promoting positive engagement and alignment.
Compliance Validation
Validate that all IoT solutions within the region meet compliance requirements, including Microsoft Data Privacy and regional regulatory standards.
Serve as a subject matter expert for approved IoT solutions and ensure all compliance obligations are followed.
Architecture; Integration
Validate IoT architectures for secure integration with enterprise systems, including identity management and SSO.
Support edge connectivity strategies for efficient IoT operations.
Lifecycle & Operations
Assist with regional lifecycle activities, including:
Preventative maintenance of IoT systems and devices.
Lifecycle planning to ensure timely refresh and upgrades.
Decommissioning of IoT assets in coordination with regional and global teams.
Manage ServiceNow/ICM tickets and escalate as needed.
Coordinate with project teams to ensure smooth onboarding and retirement of IoT devices.
Knowledge Management
Create and maintain knowledge base articles and technical documentation specific to the region.
Ensure documentation reflects accurate configurations, troubleshooting steps, and best practices.
Collaboration ; Knowledge Sharing
Work closely with regional managers, project teams, and global SMEs for seamless IoT solution delivery.
Contribute to global knowledge bases and mentor regional technical teams.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Experience: 5–7+ years in IoT systems, smart building technologies, or enterprise technical operations.
Technical Expertise:
Advanced knowledge of Azure IoT Hub, IoT Edge, and cloud-native architectures.
Strong understanding of network protocols, firewall configurations, and connectivity.
Tools; Platforms: ServiceNow, ICM, telemetry platforms.
Soft Skills: Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and ability to translate technical insights into business value.
