Job Summary: 

Avient is seeking a Senior Analyst, Legal Contracts to provide a full range of support for legal contracts such as confidentiality agreements (NDAs) for Avient’s businesses worldwide.

As part of Avient’s global legal department, with team members located in the United States, Europe, and India, this newly created position will work closely with legal colleagues and business stakeholders across the organization to handle requests for NDAs and certain other contracts, including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating the contracts, in a manner that is competent, timely, and pragmatic, and thereby supports relevant business objectives.

This position requires an experienced legal professional who performs essential functions with minimal direct supervision, navigates complexity with self-assurance and good judgment, and possesses confidence and ability to influence diverse stakeholders.

This position is preferably based at Avient’s offices in Pune, India, and will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Intellectual Property, based in the United States.
 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Reviews, drafts, and negotiates NDAs and certain other contracts (if and as directed), including preparing fresh NDAs using Avient’s forms and/or redlining NDAs proposed by counterparties (customers, vendors, etc.), identifying risks and presenting pragmatic approaches to address identified risks while also supporting business objectives, working with stakeholders to obtain necessary inputs or approvals, and finalizing contracts in a timely manner

  • Monitors incoming requests and responds promptly with relevant documents (e.g., providing an appropriate NDA form for the circumstances, etc.) and/or information (e.g., confirming status or scope of an existing NDA, etc.)

  • Understands and applies legal entity signature authority concepts and coordinates obtaining signatures from authorized signers, including using electronic signature platforms such as Adobe Sign, DocuSign, etc.

  • Maintains relevant internal files and records according to company policies and practices

  • Develops and delivers relevant training to internal stakeholders

  • Collaborates effectively with stakeholders across the global organization from functions including Legal, Sales, Marketing, Technology, Sourcing, IT, Finance, etc. 

  • Acquires knowledge of Avient’s businesses, strategy, products, and technologies and maintains familiarity with business objectives 

  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of systems, processes, policies, resources, etc., in support of effective and efficient operations of Avient’s legal department

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) and enrolled with any State Bar Council

  • 7+ years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal team setting, preferably in a multinational organization, involving drafting and reviewing commercial contracts

  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant corporate and commercial legal principles

  • Solid analytical skills, including an ability to review technical information and data to identify patentable subject matter

  • Ability to provide timely and pragmatic support that guides the business to successful outcomes

  • Capacity to quickly learn and comprehend complex legal, business, and technical subject matter

  • Ability to function autonomously while possessing sufficient judgment to understand when to seek assistance from or provide updates to management and/or stakeholders

  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and operate efficiently and effectively to manage time pressures and meet deadlines

  • Awareness of cultural differences across different countries and regions

  • Good interpersonal skills to build and maintain trusted relationships with colleagues and diverse stakeholders and confidently navigate a complex global organization

  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)

  • Desire to take on progressively greater responsibilities

  • Positive, enthusiastic, growth mindset, proactive, and collegial

 

Additional Particulars

  • Flexibility to work at various hours and to participate as needed in meetings with participants in other regions and time zones including the Americas and Europe

  • Occasional travel to Avient sites including those in and outside of India may be required
