Senior Automation Tester

Purpose of the role

To design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve defects, and continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, to ensure software quality and reliability. 

Accountabilities

• Development and implementation of comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
• Creation and execution automated test scripts, leveraging testing frameworks and tools to facilitate early detection of defects and quality issues.         .
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions, and contribute to the development of acceptance criteria, ensuring a thorough understanding of the software being tested.
• Root cause analysis for identified defects, working closely with developers to provide detailed information and support defect resolution.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

To be successful Senior Automation Tester you should have experience with:

• Strong hands-on automation expertise: Selenium, TestNG, Hybrid/BDD Frameworks, Java
• Experience in test strategy, estimation, planning, execution governance, and large-scale program delivery
• Strong knowledge of API Testing (Postman/REST Assured) and database testing using SQL
• Proficiency in Agile delivery, CI/CD pipelines (GIT, Jenkins/GitLab), and DevOps practices
• Expertise in test management and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence)
• Strong defect management, root cause analysis, and risk management skills
• Experience leading distributed/onshore-offshore testing teams
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and reporting skills
• Exposure to AI-assisted testing, test optimization, and automation acceleration tools
• Good banking/domain awareness preferred

• Stakeholder collaboration: Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, Application Owners, and Operations teams to ensure complete test coverage and smooth delivery
• Governance & reporting: Drive daily test calls, monitor quality metrics, track progress against plans, and communicate status, risks, and issues to stakeholders
• People leadership & mentoring: Coach and mentor testers, perform reviews of test artefacts, and promote adoption of testing best practices
• Quality assurance: Ensure releases meet business requirements, non-functional expectations, regulatory standards, and quality gates
• Continuous improvement: Drive testing process improvements, shift-left practices, AI-assisted testing opportunities, and adoption of modern QA methodologies
