Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain the backend services and APIs that deliver our sports intelligence products to internal teams and external clients
- Design and own service and API contracts consumed by other engineering teams, including versioning, backward compatibility, and documentation
- Build services that serve model outputs and data products reliably, including real-time and high-traffic paths
- Integrate backend services with data platforms, warehouses, and model serving layers
- Ensure services are production-ready: monitoring, alerting, logging, and clean operational handover to the teams that run them
- Contribute to architecture and technical decisions across the team
- Write well-tested, maintainable code and take part in code review
Requirements:
- 5+ years building and shipping backend services in production
- Strong Python; solid SQL and working knowledge of relational databases
- Experience designing and building REST APIs, including versioning and managing breaking changes
- Understanding of caching, and of performance and scalability in read-heavy systems
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerised deployment
- Familiarity with CI/CD, testing practices, and observability tooling
- Ability to work from a specification and ask good questions when it's incomplete
