About the Hiring Team
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join the Change Management function, reporting into a Programme Manager or Portfolio Lead.
This role is focused on leading the delivery of complex, high-impact projects and supporting wider programmes across technology and business change. You will be accountable for driving structure, pace, and control across delivery, while managing stakeholder alignment, risks, and commercial considerations.
This role suits someone who is confident operating in complex environments, can bring clarity where there is ambiguity, and can maintain delivery grip while enabling teams to perform effectively.
The practice team is currently located across UK – London, Ireland – Dublin, Bulgaria – Sofia, South Africa – Cape Town and India – Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore. Apex currently operates a 5-day office working policy.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Lead delivery of complex projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring agreed outcomes are achieved.
- Establish and maintain robust project structures, plans, milestones, and controls.
- Provide clear direction and coordination across cross-functional teams including technology, operations, and business stakeholders.
- Actively manage risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies, driving early intervention where required.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and transparent reporting of project status, progress, and delivery concerns.
- Engage senior stakeholders and sponsors, managing expectations and supporting decision-making.
- Drive problem resolution, balancing pace, quality, and risk.
- Support Programme Managers and Portfolio Leads with delivery oversight, sequencing, and prioritisation.
- Coach and support Project Managers and junior team members where appropriate.
- Ensure governance and documentation are proportionate and aligned to project complexity.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery standards, tools, and ways of working.
Experience and skills:
- Proven experience leading delivery of complex projects within technology and/or business change environments.
- Strong understanding of core project management disciplines including planning, financial tracking, risk, and dependency management.
- Ability to operate effectively in environments with ambiguity, competing priorities, and evolving scope.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Commercial awareness, including understanding of budgets, resource constraints, and value delivery.
- Structured, pragmatic, and delivery-focused mindset.
- Ability to balance governance requirements with delivery efficiency.
- Ability to work independently and provide leadership within a wider programme environment.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Nice to have:
- Experience within Financial Services.
- Exposure to the Funds industry.
- Experience delivering onboarding, migration, integration, or transformation initiatives.
- Experience working across global / multi-region delivery teams.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, Agile).
- Familiarity with common delivery tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, MS Project, Jira).
