Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

To be successful as a Software Engineer, you should have:
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot for building RESTful, production‑grade backend services and microservices.
- Proficiency in Spring ecosystem components such as Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, and Spring Cloud.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, including contract‑first or OpenAPI‑driven development.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, service communication, error handling, resilience patterns, and API versioning.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, such as:
- Compute & integration: AWS Lambda, ECS/EKS, EC2.
- Networking & security: VPC, IAM, Security Groups.
- Storage & messaging: S3, SQS, SNS, EventBridge.
- Experience with cloud-native application design, scalability, fault tolerance, and observability.
- Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB) and data access patterns.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Stash/SVN) and collaborative development workflows.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, and deployment practices.
- Experience working within Agile / Scrum delivery teams.
Some other highly valued skills include:
- Strong skills in performance tuning, debugging, and root cause analysis in distributed systems.
- Understanding of security best practices, authentication/authorization, and secure API design.
- Experience with testing strategies including unit, integration, and contract testing.
- Exposure to event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing.
- Awareness of monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, ELK, OpenTelemetry, etc.).
- Understanding of software design patterns and clean architecture principles.
- Aware/Knowledge of AI models and Prompts Engineering.
