Global Engineering is seeking a Sr Lead Software Engineer (Front-End Technical Lead) to provide technical leadership for the design, development, and delivery of modern web applications and digital platforms. This role serves as a senior technical leader and principal designer, partnering closely with business stakeholders, product managers, UX designers, architects, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, responsive, secure, and user-centric solutions.

The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on expertise in React, TypeScript, modern front-end architecture, micro front-end development, and AI-assisted software engineering with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. This individual will influence technical direction across multiple teams, mentor engineers, and drive front-end engineering best practices while contributing to strategic business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Solve complex technical and business problems through innovative front-end engineering solutions and sound technical judgment.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence.
• Serve as the principal designer for front-end applications and digital experiences, defining architecture standards, UI engineering practices, and implementation strategies.
• Partner with business stakeholders, product teams, architects, and UX designers to translate business requirements and design concepts into scalable technical solutions.
• Design, develop, and support enterprise web applications using React, TypeScript, Redux, Redux Toolkit (RTK), JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
• Architect and implement micro front-end solutions that enable modular, scalable, and independently deployable application components.
• Drive implementation of responsive and accessible user interfaces that adhere to modern UI/UX standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with back-end engineering teams to integrate front-end applications with REST APIs and enterprise services.
• Lead front-end performance optimization initiatives by improving application responsiveness, load times, rendering performance, and overall user experience.
• Drive adoption of automated testing, CI/CD practices, DevOps methodologies, and secure software development standards.
• Lead technical planning, solution design, implementation activities, and status reporting for strategic initiatives.
• Act as a technical resource for engineers and teams with less experience, providing coaching, code reviews, and architectural guidance.
• Evaluate and recommend emerging front-end technologies, frameworks, tools, and architectural patterns to improve business outcomes and engineering effectiveness.
• Champion the adoption of AI-powered engineering tools including GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, and other AI-assisted development platforms.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture standards, accessibility requirements, security controls, and change management processes.
• Collaborate with vendors, consultants, and technology partners to support project and platform objectives.
• Influence technical direction and build consensus across engineering teams, business stakeholders, and leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience developing and supporting enterprise-scale web applications and digital platforms.
• Strong expertise in:

• Experience with:
  • Git and modern source control practices
  • CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
  • Front-end testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, React Testing Library, or equivalent
  • Agile software development methodologies
• Strong understanding of front-end architecture patterns, component-based design, state management, and web application performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience leveraging GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted software engineering tools to increase developer productivity and engineering effectiveness.
• Proven ability to lead technical workstreams and influence technical decisions across multiple teams.
• Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth conceptual and practical knowledge of front-end engineering, web application architecture, user experience design principles, and modern JavaScript ecosystems.
• Working knowledge of related disciplines including cloud platforms, APIs, security, DevOps, accessibility, and software quality engineering.
• Ability to apply industry best practices and understand how front-end solutions integrate with enterprise platforms and back-end services.
• Knowledge of modern software architecture principles including component-driven development, micro front-end architecture, API-first design, and scalable web applications.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, browser compatibility, and front-end performance optimization techniques.
• Awareness of emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive factors influencing digital experiences and front-end engineering practices.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong collaboration and consensus-building skills across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Experience

• For internal applications - 12 months as Lead (currently P3)
• Acts as a technical resource and mentor for engineers and teams with less experience.
• Leads small to medium-sized technical initiatives with manageable risk, scope, and resource requirements.
• Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information to determine the best technical solutions.
• Impacts customer, operational, project, and service activities within their team and across related engineering teams.
• Works independently within broad guidelines, policies, and enterprise standards.
• Contributes to architecture reviews, engineering governance, and strategic technology planning efforts.
• Applies best practices and understands how front-end platforms integrate with other enterprise systems and technology domains.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within Financial Services, Capital Markets, Asset Management, or FinTech organizations.
• Experience with server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG).
• Experience with modern UI component frameworks and design systems.
• Familiarity with additional front-end frameworks such as Angular or Vue.js.
• Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
• Experience building highly scalable, resilient, and responsive digital experiences in enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with cloud-native application architectures and API-driven ecosystems.
• Experience supporting enterprise modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
