Role

We are looking for a Staff Threat Researcher, reporting to the Senior Manager, Zscaler Threat Hunting within the Zscaler Threat Hunting team. Analyze emerging threats, adversarial behaviors, and tactics to understand attacker methodologies and improve detection capabilities. You will conduct proactive and retroactive threat hunting using telemetry while independently responding to customers across flexible operational schedules.

• Analyze emerging threats, adversarial behaviors, and TTPs to improve detection capabilities

• Conduct proactive and retroactive threat hunting using behavioral-based telemetry

• Research, analyze, validate, and clearly document all threat hunting findings

• Independently hunt and respond to customers while meeting operational demands

• Manage weekend night shifts and on-call support to ensure continuous threat coverage

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

• Proven experience in threat hunting, incident response, security operations, or malware analysis

• Hands-on experience with SIEM tools such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, or ElasticSearch

• Strong familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK framework and modern adversarial TTPs

• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience

• Ability to work flexible schedules including weekend night shifts and on-call rotations

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Proven ability to validate findings, perform root cause analysis, and deliver actionable recommendations

• Strong scripting and automation skills, preferably using Python

• Experience writing IDS/IPS or YARA signatures and network-based threat detection
