VP Data Engineer

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure. 

Accountabilities

• Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
• Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
• Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
• Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.

To be successful as a “VP Data Engineer”, you should have experience with:

• Building and maintaining data pipelines and curated datasets for reporting and insight generation.
• ETL tooling such as Alteryx or equivalent platforms.
• Hands-on delivery of visualisation tools and reporting solutions, including Tableau or equivalent tooling.
• Requirements documentation and clear communication, with the ability to work independently with stakeholders.

Desirable Skills / Good to have:

• Cloud data engineering experience, including AWS services and modern data ecosystem components (e.g. Snowflake).
• Strong SQL and data modelling capability, including experience of managing and operating SQL databases.
• Data orchestration and workflow tooling, together with modern lake and lake house patterns.
• Exposure to process modelling tools and methods, including IBM Blue works Live or BPMN-based tooling.
