Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

To be successful as a Lead Solution Architect you should have:

  • Extensive experience designing and delivering large-scale enterprise platforms across Payments, Treasury, Settlement, Trade Processing, Bonds, Repos, and Financial Market Infrastructure domains.

  • Strong expertise in Digital Assets architecture, including Tokenisation, Wallets, Custody, Asset Lifecycle Management, Smart Contracts, and Blockchain/DLT-based solutions.

  • Deep knowledge of Hyperledger Besu, Canton, permissioned blockchain networks, node architecture, consensus mechanisms, validator operations, and enterprise DLT integration patterns.

  • Proven experience designing secure platforms involving Key Management, HSMs, MPC, Cryptography, PKI, mTLS, Encryption, Secrets Management, and Identity & Access Management (IAM).

  • Strong expertise in cloud-native distributed architectures, including AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, Microservices, APIs, Event-Driven Architecture, and integration with internal and external financial ecosystems.

  • Proven ability to define target architectures, lead architecture governance, evaluate vendor platforms, and collaborate with business, engineering, risk, compliance, operations, and external partners to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient digital asset platforms.

Some other highly valued skills include:

  • Strong experience working in regulated environments with strict compliance, audit, and governance requirements.

  • Deep understanding of system resiliency, fault tolerance, high availability, and performance optimization.

  • Solid knowledge of design patterns, object‑oriented principles, and enterprise architecture best practices.

  • Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, integration, and contract testing.

  • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and large‑scale delivery models.

  • Ability to collaborate closely with product owners, architects, QA, security, and DevOps teams.

  • Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical solutions to business and senior stakeholders.

  • Banking domain knowledge such as Payments & Transfer, Treasury, Settlement, Reconciliation, Regulatory and Compliance Controls.
