Lead UI/UX Designer | Strategic Leadership, User-Centered Design, Accessibility & Visual Innovation
Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a highly skilled Lead UI/UX Designer to oversee and direct our user experience design processes across web and mobile platforms. This role involves defining and executing design strategies that enhance user satisfaction, engagement, and accessibility. The Lead will mentor design teams, collaborate with product and development stakeholders, and ensure that all design solutions align with organizational goals, industry standards, and user needs, ultimately contributing to business growth and digital excellence.
Software Requirements
Required Software Proficiency:
Design tools: Sketch, Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator — extensive experience in creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs
User research and testing tools: Miro, InVision, Maze — capability to conduct usability testing and utilize customer insights for design improvements
Collaboration tools: Figma, Miro — proficiency in managing design workflows collaboratively and efficiently
Basic front-end knowledge: HTML, CSS, JavaScript — understanding to facilitate effective communication with developers and validation of designs
Preferred Software Skills:
Motion graphics tools: After Effects, Principle — experience creating animated prototypes and microinteractions
Accessibility testing: aXe, WAVE — familiarity with accessibility standards and tools for inclusive design
Overall Responsibilities
Lead and manage the UI/UX design team to deliver innovative, user-centered digital experiences for web and mobile applications
Define and communicate a clear design vision, ensuring visual consistency and alignment with business objectives and user expectations
Collaborate with product managers, developers, marketers, and stakeholders to understand requirements, user needs, and business challenges
Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and visual design specifications that support seamless user experiences
Ensure all designs meet accessibility, usability, performance, and industry standards
Review and critique design outputs, providing constructive feedback and mentorship to designers for continuous improvement
Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; share insights and elevate team capabilities
Document design systems, style guides, and user experience guidelines to support scalability and consistency
Technical Skills (By Category)
Design & Prototyping Tools:
Essential: Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma — expertise in creating prototypes and scalable style guides
Preferred: Adobe After Effects, Principle — for creating engaging animations and microinteractions
User Research & Testing:
Conduct usability testing, customer journey mapping, and analyze data to inform iterative design improvements
Development Knowledge:
Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — to facilitate collaboration with frontend developers and validate design feasibility
Accessibility & Compliance:
Familiarity with WCAG standards and accessibility testing tools to ensure inclusive design
Experience Requirements
5 to 10+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design, with a proven portfolio of web and mobile applications
Demonstrated experience leading and managing design teams in fast-paced environments
Proven success translating complex requirements into intuitive, accessible, and engaging user interfaces
Experience working within Agile teams and participating in design sprints and reviews
Knowledge of user research methods, data analysis, and utilizing insights to guide design decisions
Day-to-Day Activities
Lead the creation and review of wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs for ongoing projects
Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to inform design iterations
Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, and marketing teams during sprint planning and reviews
Maintain design systems, style guides, and documentation to ensure consistency across products
Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation
Review and critique design work, providing constructive feedback and fostering quality standards
Keep abreast of emerging design trends, tools, and best practices, sharing knowledge with the team
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
5+ years of UI/UX design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating work on web and mobile solutions
Leadership experience managing design teams or projects
Familiarity with accessibility standards and responsive design principles
Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating across cross-functional teams
