Mainframe Engineer

Purpose of the role: MicroFocus Cobol Developer is responsible for identifying and solving problems and incidents in the applications, keeping contact with the customer, and understanding the customer's needs. The main goal of the position is to know well the customer’s application environment and help migrate to different tool from MicroFocus cobol. What we are looking for: We are looking for individuals who have the following skillset: • Strong development knowledge in MicroFocus COBOL • Strong coding knowledge on Mainframe COBOL can also be analysed and assessed. • Self-motivated professional that creates best practices and communicates with different areas of a product • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills • Excellent communication skills • Team player. • You have the autonomy to recognize the current and new priorities, evaluating the impact of their outcomes in the result. • Continuous service improvement mindset. Roles & Responsibilities: • Experience in migrating COBOL applications from Micro Focus to different platforms, including code conversion, dependency analysis, data file migration, build and runtime configuration, and functional validation within the .NET ecosystem. • Proficient in adapting Micro Focus extensions to another tool-compatible syntax, integrating COBOL logic with .NET services, and ensuring seamless modernization and deployment on Azure. • Provide technical specifications for all the enhancements. • Track and report on requested enhancements. • Work with Operations team on Creating root cause analysis. • Identify recurring incidents and trigger Problem management process. • Proactively identify trends in Service provided, implement improvements, and provide feedback on improvements.
