This role is based in Pune. This location works on a hybrid model, 2-3 days in the office. You will be required to interview in person.

About the Role
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and empower a high-performing team of software engineers responsible for owning the technical development of SailPoint’s core product capabilities. In this role, you will champion technical excellence, write and review quality code, debug complex distributed systems issues, and foster a culture of innovation and continuous delivery. You will work in an Agile environment, collaborating closely with US-based teams and stakeholders to build and maintain cloud-native, event-driven microservices on AWS.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with demonstrated experience building, leading, and managing teams of software engineers
• Strong foundational understanding of software development, particularly in Java, as well as modern front-end architectures.
• Proven track record of success delivering complex software solutions in an Agile development environment
• Solid foundation in software engineering principles, distributed systems, and cloud architecture (AWS preferred)
• Exceptional leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills with a passion for continuous improvement
• Strong project management abilities with experience scoping, prioritizing, tracking, and delivering engineering milestones
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across global time zones
• Willingness to maintain at least 4 overlapping working hours with US time zones

AI-assisted engineering:
Our engineers are expected to use AI development tools as a core part of their daily workflow, not as a novelty. We expect you to use these tools to accelerate delivery, expand your scope, and raise the quality bar, while applying strong engineering judgment to review, validate, and own everything that ships under your name. Comfort with prompting, agentic workflows, and human-in-the-loop review of AI-generated code is a baseline expectation for this role.
AI related Technology:

• Cursor, Claude Code
• Python-based AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, and numpy
• Deep Learning Frameworks such as PyTorch
• LLMs and Foundation Models in Bedrock, VertexAI, or similar

Roadmap for Success

30 Days:

• Complete SailPoint onboarding, understand our identity security product suite, and get familiar with the cloud-native, event-driven microservices architecture hosted on AWS.
• Establish relationships with your engineering team, Product Management partners, and US-based counterparts.
• Understand the current sprint commitments, team workflows, and active technical priorities.

60 Days:

• Assume day-to-day leadership of the engineering team and run Agile ceremonies effectively.
• Actively partner with Product Management to review roadmaps, scope incoming projects, and allocate engineering resources.
• Begin coaching and setting clear performance objectives for direct reports through regular 1:1 mentorship sessions.

90 Days:

• Own end-to-end project planning, tracking, and risk management for your team's deliverables and key milestones.
• Maintain a seamless communication cadence with global stakeholders, ensuring overlapping collaboration with the US team.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process or architectural improvements to raise code quality and team velocity.

6 Months:

• Drive the successful release of high-impact features and architectural enhancements to production on AWS.
• Foster a strong culture of career development, mentoring engineers toward their next career milestones.
• Proactively manage technical risk, system reliability, and resource allocation across multiple simultaneous initiatives.

1 Year:

• Establish a proven track record of predictable, high-quality product delivery that advances SailPoint’s identity security platform.
• Scale team capabilities, mentor emerging leaders, and contribute strategic engineering input toward long-term product roadmaps.
