Job Title: Senior SQL / Database Developer

Experience Level: 5 - 6 Years
Employment Type: Full-Time

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Senior SQL Developer to design, develop, and optimize our core database systems. In this role, you will build robust, scalable database architectures, optimize complex queries, and ensure maximum data integrity and security. You will collaborate closely with application developers, data analysts, and product managers to deliver data-driven solutions that directly support our business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Database Development: Design and implement relational database structures, schemas, and complex programmable objects (T-SQL/PL-SQL stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions).
  • Performance Tuning: Troubleshoot and analyse query logs to identify bottlenecks. Implement advanced indexing strategies, query execution plans, and performance tweaks to ensure optimal system speed.
  • Data Integration (ETL): Build, monitor, and maintain scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to move and transform large volumes of data securely across systems.
  • Data Governance & Security: Enforce data validation, quality, and integrity checks. Maintain database security and compliance protocols to safeguard sensitive corporate and customer information.
  • Maintenance & Support: Conduct regular database backups, recovery procedures, and version control for schema deployments. Support production-level applications and provide after-hours troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Team Collaboration: Act as a subject matter expert, guiding junior developers, participating in code reviews, and writing technical specifications. Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 5 to 6 years of hands-on experience in database development and programming within a production environment.
  • Nice to have:
    • Advanced command of SQL and its variations (e.g., T-SQL for Microsoft SQL Server or PL/SQL for Oracle).
    • Familiarity with database engines like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to translate complex business requirements into high-performing technical data solutions.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, highly self-motivated, and strong written and verbal communication abilities
