Purpose of the role
To design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve defects, and continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, to ensure software quality and reliability.
Accountabilities
- Development and implementation of comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
- Creation and execution automated test scripts, leveraging testing frameworks and tools to facilitate early detection of defects and quality issues. .
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions, and contribute to the development of acceptance criteria, ensuring a thorough understanding of the software being tested.
- Root cause analysis for identified defects, working closely with developers to provide detailed information and support defect resolution.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

To be a successful Senior Test Engineer-AVP you should have experience with:
- Strong hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining test automation frameworks for API, UI, and end-to-end testing.
- Extensive experience with Java, Selenium WebDriver, Cucumber, Karate, and modern test automation tools.
- Strong programming skills in Core Java with a focus on automation framework development and test engineering best practices.
- Proven expertise in API testing, Web Services, REST APIs, and automation of service-based architectures.
- Experience testing enterprise-scale web-based applications across functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing cycles.
- Strong understanding of software testing concepts, methodologies, test strategies, planning, defect management, and quality assurance processes.
- Good working knowledge of SQL and relational databases for backend validation and data-driven testing.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery models and test management tools such as Jira.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into DevOps delivery processes.
- Proven ability to drive quality engineering practices, code reviews, automation standards, and testing governance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and investigative skills with a keen eye for identifying quality risks.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills, working effectively with development, business, and QA teams.
- 8+ years of professional experience
Additional relevant skills given below are highly valued:
- Experience in Financial Services, particularly Customer Onboarding, AML, KYC, and Client Lifecycle Management domains.
- Exposure to performance, scalability, security, and resilience testing methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with containerized testing environments using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Experience with modern test reporting, monitoring, and quality dashboards.
- Understanding of cloud-native application testing on AWS, Azure, or Barclays Cloud Platform (BCP).
- Experience working with messaging technologies such as Kafka and MQ for event-driven testing.
- Familiarity with Shift-Left testing, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices.
- Exposure to test data management, service virtualization, and non-functional testing strategies.
- Ability to mentor engineers and drive automation-first quality engineering culture across teams.
