We are seeking a dynamic Software Engineer – Cloud Backend to support R&D Software teams within the Sports Medicine Division. He or she will be responsible for translating system design inputs into robust software requirements and architectures. Leads software development, design, implementation, testing, documentation, and maintenance activities. Collaborates cross-functionally with Systems Engineering, Design, Marketing, R&D, Quality, and Regulatory teams to ensure inputs are reflected in the architecture. Performs design control functions to comply with FDA, ISO, and industry standards, writes specifications and design documents, conducts peer reviews, and contributes across the full product lifecycle.
What will you be doing?- Responsible for translating system design inputs into robust software system requirements and architectures.
- Leads software development planning, design, documentation, implementation, testing, and maintenance activities.
- Drives concept definition, analysis, and selection activities in partnership with Systems Engineering, Human Factors engineering, Marketing, and other functions.
- Work effectively cross-functionally with Technical Delivery Leader, Design & Usability, Marketing, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and other teams to ensure inputs are considered and accounted for in the software system architecture.
- Perform design control functions to ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, and other industry standards.
- Take responsibility for writing product specifications and drafting design documents.
- Conduct technical peer reviews of software designs by other team members.
- Contribute across the full product lifecycle, preferably having supported products released to market.
- Education: BS in Software Engineering, or Computer Science or equivalent required, or
- MS or PhD in Software Engineering, or Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
- Licenses/ Certifications: AWS Certified Developer is preferred.
- Experience: Should have 2 – 3 years of proven experience in building complex web application backend using Spring Boot.
Competences:
- Experience in designing and implementing server-side architecture, RESTful APIs, and database schemas.
- Experience in authentication and authorization (e.g., JWT, OAuth).
- Experience in using unit test frameworks such as JUnit or similar.
- Experience working with agile development methodologies and exposure to working within CI/CD.
- Experienced with SDLC best practices and processes, including development infrastructure and tools like GitLab, JIRA, Jenkins, or similar.
- Understanding of security best practices (encryption, data protection, API rate limiting).
- Skilled in writing software requirements and detailed design specifications.
- Experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining complex software applications within AWS Cloud preferred.
- Detailed understanding of IEC 62304, ISO 14971, FDA, and MDR design control requirements for medical devices preferred.
