PPCR Data Integration Developer

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Join us as a PPCR Data Integration Developer at Barclays where you will spearhead the evolution of our infrastructure and deployment pipelines, driving innovation and operational excellence. You will design and implement scalable data hydration solutions that ingest, transform, enrich, govern, and expose enterprise data for downstream analytics, applications, and Generative AI solutions.

To be successful as a  PPCR Data Integration Developer you should have experience with:

• Designing and implementing enterprise-scale Data Hydration frameworks for ingestion, transformation, enrichment, validation, and distribution.
• Building scalable batch and real-time data pipelines across enterprise platforms.
• Preparing AI-ready data by cleansing, enriching, chunking, tagging, and structuring enterprise data for downstream consumption.
• Implementing data quality, lineage, reconciliation, metadata, observability, and governance controls.
• Integrating enterprise applications and data platforms using APIs, event streams, ETL/ELT patterns, and reusable services. (REST APIs, JSON/XML, event-driven integration, Kafka or streaming patterns, cloud integration concepts, reusable interface design)
• Building resilient integration frameworks with monitoring, error handling, restartability, and operational controls.
• Optimizing throughput, latency, reliability, and scalability across complex data processing workloads.
• Python, SQL, Git or GitLab CI/CD, Linux/Unix, Azure/AWS/GCP data platform awareness
• Supporting GenAI initiatives by preparing trusted and governed data for AI consumption.
• Enabling RAG and enterprise knowledge retrieval patterns using metadata, document processing, embeddings, and semantic search concepts.
• Collaborating with AI engineering teams on prompt engineering, LLM orchestration, AI evaluation, and responsible AI controls.
• Translating business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Working with business stakeholders, architects, data teams, security, governance, and platform engineering teams.
• Supporting deployments, production issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Mentoring junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG architecture, prompt engineering, agentic AI patterns, semantic search, vector databases, embedding models, AI evaluation, and AI observability.
• Experience in Databricks, Apache Spark, Snowflake, Delta Lake, real-time streaming, Data Mesh concepts, enterprise data catalogues, and advanced metadata management.
• Experience in AWS data services, Kafka, API management platforms, microservices, Event Hub, or Pub/Sub platforms.
• Experience in GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, automated testing frameworks, Infrastructure as Code, Docker/Kubernetes, production monitoring, and observability tools.
• Knowledge of Banking or financial services domain, information security, privacy controls, GDPR, data retention, data entitlements, solution design, technical governance, stakeholder management, Agile delivery, mentoring, and consulting mindset.
